The hybrid inverter that allows you to plug the battery into your house circuit (DC -> AC) seamlessly is around $2-3k + installation cost, cause you're touching the main panel. Why isn't that in the calculation?

Plugging a power-supply into a normal outlet like this is legal in many places, and illegal in many others.
