Jokes aside, IMO the next great "appliance" is the personal robot. It basically follow you everywhere, witnesses/records everything you do (for only your benefit/access hopefully), carries/lifts/moves things for you, fetches things for you, holds things for you, can do emergency services. Can walk a mountain with you.

There was once a cartoon where a robot is instructed to protect it's "primary" from rain and proceeds to swat away all the individual drops of rain from it. A ridiculous parody, but... think about it.

But yeah ... sex robots will absolutely be a thing. Might HAVE to be the thing for the female clientele with insemination abilities to continue the existence of the human race.

Marriage rates are already falling; when sex robots get good enough, they'll collapse entirely. I'm not even sure if this is a bad thing.
