More historically accurate, though, no?

Exactly, "Entry of Crusaders in Constantinople" is very milquetoast and does not begin the describe the horrendous massacres committed then.

>surrounded by hostile Muslim nations ( though not as bad as Israel, but still)

What a bizarre non-sequitur.

I think "non-sequitur" is an incorrect phrasing here, it means "does not follow logically from the conversation that preceded it".

How so?

For starters, Singapore wasn't founded by a group of ethno-national colonists who drove out the indigenous population...

Firstly, the 'Islamic' character of Malaysia and Indonesia has never really factored into Singapore's geopolitical confrontation or collaboration within SEA. Secondly, the narrative that Israel is some kind of plucky outpost standing up to barbaric Islamic hordes at its gates is, at best, profoundly naive at this point. There isn't a meaningful correlation to be found here except through the lens of intellectual laziness and Islamophobia.

I gave up a few paragraphs in, partly because of the formatting, partly because the author seemed very impressed with themselves for being the nth person to articulate this sentiment in a particularly ostentatious way.

"Disregard disregarding, acquire currency"

Incredible work and yes, it really captures a Flash vibe.

My only note would be that I'm surprised that Order from Chaos isn't featured anywhere; I feel like they are kind of a Rosetta stone for so much of what happened in the 90s/00s with black and death metal converging on each other.

Until I guess the mid-2010s there was a really pervasive stereotype of vegans as obnoxious pseudo-religious sticks-in-the-mud.

>There were parts where I had to manually switch off the top layer because transparent stuff (such as clouds) would completely block my view

Yeah, that was my experience too; Dome 16 was a total annoyance. I did also use it to 'cheat' in sections of games where you had limited FOV, the alternative of having eyestrain and headaches wasn't really desirable.

I don't think I'd have gotten through a lot of my favourite RPGs without savestates, save points were always so ridiculously spread out while the random encounters were interminable. Still some of the best experiences I've had in the medium though.

>It's best to differentiate groups and not generalize about religions/people/groups down that path often lies justification for evil.

But broad generalizations about one of the principal denominations of a religion/its adherents are entirely above board?

Broad generalization about what their supreme religious leaders do/say? Yep.

Which, in a sibling comment, you say reflects on the sect as a whole. This would be a clever use of weasel words if you were just more consistent.

Wait till you see what God asks of his followers in the Bible.

Unconvincing. Wait till you see the percentage of modern Christians that disregard and ignore calls and commands for violence present in the bible, compared to believers within the other 2 Abrahamic religions.

Western values separated themselves from several beliefs demanded by the Christianity religions that inspired them. They self-governed and organically evolved beyond several parts of their source material (homosexuality and sodomy, slavery, religious violence, working on the sabbath, forced assimilation, torture and wartime measures, textile production).

Shocking, right? Almost like it's possible...

> compared to believers within the other 2 Abrahamic religions.

Do you really want me to cite what israel has been doing for the past 75+ years and justified it from their own books? What did milekowsky literally say in one of his recent speeches?

> slavery

Still exists, but it changed forms.

> religious violence

Also still exists, but is a bit more concealed

forced assimilation,

See: europe

> torture and wartime measures

American and israeli war crimes are very well documented, and continue to this day

>"Do you really want me to cite what israel has been doing for the past 75+ years and justified it from their own books? What did milekowsky literally say in one of his recent speeches?"

You're clearly well-versed enough in this site's UX/UI to follow comments across a thread, presumably you saw my comment conceding Israel as a problem state now, as well:

>"American and israeli war crimes are very well documented, and continue to this day"

Yeah, so are those from Islamic States. But American war crimes didn't include sanctioning rape for prisoners of war for its history, and had a lot more regulation and moral reservations for pillage and conquest. A pretty good start - hopefully it evolves from here.

Most 'modern' Christians are barely even aware of the content of the Bible, and most adherents of all three religions are not acting on those commands anyway.

>They self-governed and organically evolved beyond several parts of their source material

Ah yes, wars, revolutions, general strikes, all famously acts of self-governance.

You sure showed me with this 0-effort response, cadet!

Seems appropriate as it's about as much effort as you put into forming your worldview.

HN Rule Number 1 (and Life): "Attack ideas, not people".

And it's my worldview needing refinement?

If you think your response was an attack on ideas, most definitely, in addition to correcting your juvenile conception of history.

I don't know what to say to you beyond calling out your bad faith, then; even if it's unlikely to register.

I wish you luck.

Not as weird as this really persistent delusion that Linux is anywhere as user-hostile in 2026 as it was in the early noughts.

It has been a while. And I should say when I stuck to distro-tested options, I didn't have many issues. But I always ended up installing and configuring things that ended up causing conflictions, and all too often did clean installs instead of in-place upgrades.
