Electron maintainer here. Electron is performant if the app developer writes good code. It's slow if someone writes bad code. That's the same if you use Apple's native APIs.
The big advantage of Electron is that it takes so much less effort to write an application and bring it to all operating systems. Thus, we get applications that would not have been developed if Electron did not exist.
Interesting take. Yes this is very important in many go to market plans to be able to deploy on multiple operating systems without hiring new people that are experts in each one, or spending a lot of time on different deployments.
Buy a super cheap domain that you park all of these new email addresses at, like 7467j.com. Then, if you ever need to switch providers, take the entire domain with you.
Your data is yours. Even if you cancel your subscription and your account is frozen[0], you can still sign in to 1Password.com or in the apps to view and export your data.
I'm not sure where you're getting this price, is that your calculation with GST/HST?
Plans on https://1Password.ca are CA $7.95/month (CA ~$96 for the year) for monthly billing. We think this is a killer price for five family members without any restrictions like living at the same residence. You do save quite a bit with annual billing, but I understand that's not for everyone.
I assure you, we are taking Linux support seriously. When I joined the team, we had almost no one using Linux in house. This has changed in a big way and is only part of why we are now investing in making the best darn app we can for Linux.

1Password X is a Chrome extension, but it's also a full-featured 1Password client! Additionally, 1Password X does work without an internet connection. In version 1.5 we added an offline cache so you can boot up your laptop, unlock 1Password X and get that WiFi password or whatever item you need.
